At your risk, can be adapted to a sliding window application

I was shopping for a 12K BTU AC for a sliding window application and could not find one. Then I read the specs on this one and because it "compact" and less wide than AC units made for double-hung window applications, I determined it would fit in my slider opening. I understood I would have to make some alterations to the install, specifically, I would need to add an outside bracket to support the rear of the unit. The completed installation is secure. The unit peforms at a level above my expectations. Miscellaneous notes: I'm using it to cool 2600 cubic feet of space, it does so with ease. The fan on "low" setting is indeed audible, but it is not distracting, especially from 10 feet away. For humid regions, it will de-humidify and cool simultaneously. When installing, be sure to tip the unit back 1/2" (per the installation instructions) so any condensation will drain out the key hole shaped opening at the left-rear-bottom of the unit. If one needs to re-route the dripping water, Frigidaire does sell an adapter which fits into the opening. So far, whatever water the unit has generated has, as designed, been evaporated and not expelled out of the hole. The relative humidity where I live is moderate which probably explains the lack of drainage water. Much of the unit's weight is centered on the left side rear. If just one person is lifting the unit, it would be best to lift the unit from the rear, not the front. Preferable for two people to lift and place. Installing in a slider: at the base of the unit are two sturdy tabs, one on each side (see photo). These tabs fit into the bottom track of the slider securing the unit from slipping outside. With bottom secure, now the sides: there are 1/4" flanges on each side of the unit intended for the expansion-spacer wings. The flange on the right hand side fits into the vertical track of the slider providing some degree of retainment. The flange on the left hand side secures somewhat into the track of slider side (see photo). With the outside bracket supporting the main weight of the rear of unit (bracket set off-center to be more under the main weight, per bracket install instructions), and the bottom tabs preventing the unit from slipping to the outside and with flanges providing some securing, the unit is quite secure and there is zero vibration. Note at the bottom of the outside bracket (see photo), I was concerned the foot of the bracket would slip. I put two screws into the house siding below the bracket to make sure it could not move downward. With the slider application, one does have to create a filler plate above the unit. I used two sheets of carboard back-to-back. I may eventually buy plexiglass but the cardboard works quite well. The unit comes with 40" strip of 1" X 1" foam insulation which seals the unit well, although because of the slider application, I had to purchase another roll separately.
